Today, our little baby girl turns a year old at exactly 11:47 this morning. This year has gone by so quickly and as expected, I sometimes long for those 3 o'clock feedings when she would snuggle in my arms with her bottle. She's getting so independent with a mind of her own. Here are some tidbits from her first year:
She can say 'baby', 'ball', 'uh-oh', 'bye-bye', 'Hi Bella', and on Saturday she said 'Mama', but has only said it a few times.
She can sign 'eat' and 'more', but still doesn't use them unless prompted.
She has taken up to 8 steps, but still doesn't walk to get anywhere.
She waves bye bye.
She blow kisses.
She dances to music.
She loves to stand on her head and look through her legs waving at anyone she sees; this always makes her giggle.
She still LOVES the Elmo Imagination video and expects it whenever she sees the laptop.
She has started dragging baby dolls along with her (this her other mama will hate as she hates dolls).
She loves balls.
She asks for her bottle by name.
She claps her hands if you say 'yay'.
She continues to adore Cylie and will give her kisses almost anytime she asks, everyone else has to beg and even then it's no guarantee.
She loves to go outside.
She loves to take a bath; she loves water of any kind. She's still not a fan of being washed though.
She is a good sleeper, taking two 2-hour naps during the day and going to bed by 8ish and sleeping until 7:30 during the week. On weekends, she will sometimes sleep until around 8:30 or 9.
She has started fighting with Hunter, who is only too happy to engage. It's funny to watch, but you can't trust them. She has drawn blood and he is a lot bigger than her. He will pin her down and she just wails!
She's a very good eater, and is now eating just about anything. She still has had very little sugar and no juice at all. I've started giving her milk from her cup and she does pretty good. She only had about 3-4 bottles a day and all but the last one is only 4 ounces.
She has had surgery on her toe and been hospitalized 3 times if you count her initial 10-day NICU stay.
She's had more antibiotics, catherizations, and ultrasounds than most adults, but she's always a trooper.
She has brought us more joy than we ever imagined was possible, and we celebrate her first birthday with great thanksgiving for this miraculous gift we have been blessed and entrusted with.
